Report from the National Development Officer
As we are now about half way through the Speakers Year I thought I would take this opportunity to bring you up to date on the “Development front”.
New initiatives which are now with you include:
- A members blog - this takes the format of an on line journal/diary so that members can “exchange” news/ideas as they happen.
- A National Information Pack - this includes: What is the ASC, What we Do, Why Join, Benefits of Membership and How to Join. The pack can be used as a publicity tool for clubs (add your own programmes, contact details etc) and for those potential members who contact the National Secretary. The pack is available in both hard copy and electronic format.
I would also like to remind you of what is already available to assist you with recruitment and retention of members:
- Tips on Recruitment
- Tips on Retention
- How to Run a Taster Course - one way of recruiting new members
- Starting a New Club leaflet - helpful guidance on what you need to know
- Obtaining a Lottery Grant leaflet - get some money for your club
- Personalisable Poster - for advertising your club/ special event
- Personalisable Leaflet - to use as a publicity tool
- Personalisable Business Cards - hand out wherever you go
- Personalisable Headed Notepaper - use at every opportunity
- Compliment Slips
- Fresh Ideas for Retaining Members
- Club Development Action Plan - helping you to recruit members
- Media Guide - maximise your publicity
All of the above are available free of charge from the ASC website (www.the-asc.org.uk) in the Development Download Centre or if you are unable to access this then please contact the Materials Officer Neil Harvey. Your District President has a full set of these.
