 Whatever your speaking goals, we will help you get there. Using a programme developed over many years we can help even the most timid to become proficient, sometimes even great, at speaking up in public. Consistently number one in the list of fears, we can show you how to overcome the fear of public speaking and get to enjoy speaking out. If you can speak one-to-one you can speak in public. - getting the courage to address a business or club meeting
- having the confidence to give an interesting presentation
- making a good impression at that important interview
- to give a vote of thanks or chair a meeting
- and much more.
Whatever you want to say and wherever you want to say it, we can give you the confidence to do it.
 If you are raring to go, we will not hold you back. If you are nervous, we will not ask you to speak until you are ready to do so. If you would just like to listen, that's ok too. Speakers need an audience. The number one barrier to being able to speak in public is fear. To be successful our programme has evolved over decades to become one of the most effective confidence builders. We know how to get you outside of your comfort zone in small steps. Too big a step and no progress is made.
Your First Meeting
We recommend that you just come along as a guest to observe and check that what we have to offer is what you want. Further there are other clubs in the area. If our style is not quite you, check out other clubs. Getting the right environment is important. There are many other clubs in the area.

One of our members will team up with you. She will answer all your questions, introduce you to the others and can give you advice to help you get the shortest route to achieveing your goals.
You will see another reason why we are successful in helping others develop is that everything gets evaluated. These evaluations typically highlight the good points and where appropriate suggest improvements.
By the end of the evening you will discover why our members keep coming back - we have great fun.
back to top A Typical Night
 The description below is of a normal meeting but we also have special meetings designed to develop all aspects of speaking. There are debates, Call My Bluff, Question Time, and poetry sessions for instance. In March this year we have an evening devoted to all types of occasions when you may be asked give a little talk, speech, vote of thanks or just give an opinion at a business meeting for instance. Our guest evening is always fun and gives a chance to meet members from other districts.
Business: We start with a short business session.
Speeches: We have two short speeches typically lasting 6-8 minutes followed by 2 evaluations.
Break for coffee
 Topics Session: Here members are asked to speak for 2-3 minutes on a subject without warning. May sound a little daunting but when you are up for trying this you will find it a lot of fun.
Lastly the whole night gets evaluated.
This discpline of evaluating everything helps even the most developed speakers continue to get better. It is ensures that our meetings are as good as they can be.

Our programme is not set in stone. If you have a particular need, a presentation you are nervous about for instance, we will do our best to incorporate this.

Cost
Tameside Ladies Speakers have done their best to keep the cost to a minimum. Once you have decided to join, membership fees are £30 for the year.
For every session that you attend, there is a charge of £1 to cover the cost of a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit or two and to take part in the raffle.
Remember you are welcome to join us as a guest for a couple of meetings, free of charge, whilst you are making up your mind whether to join us
