Among the bustle of Conference 2011 in Edinburgh, the fiercely fought competitions, the energetic AGM and the glamour of the Gala Dinner, there was an oasis of calm. At the side of the conference hall, but by no means side-lined was the stall promoting next year’s conference – in Cardiff.
Bristling with all things Welsh – a vase of daffodils, leeks, pamphlets about Cardiff and the wider Welsh countryside, and not least, copious quantities of splendid Welsh Cakes! Like a magnet, conference delegates were drawn to this display and many of them signed up to receive further information about next year’s conference.
Plans are well under way – the venue will be The Marriott Hotel in the heart of the city of Cardiff, just 3 minutes walk from the station (honestly!). Workshops are being planned and our Conference Convenor (Helena Dyer) has promised that this year there will be dancing! For spouses, partners, friends the whole of the City of Cardiff spreads out before them once walking out of the hotel. The Castle is just 10minutes walk away and a fantastic shopping experience for your indulgence lies just across the pedestrianised road!

Hello Fellow Speakers
We have many delights awaiting you at Conference 2012.
Our stalwart treasurer John Evans has many talents and he has managed to secure a Harpist to enchant you on arrival. We have two hours of their time at a cost we are debating. As to when that two hours will be, we do know it will be at peak arrival time on the Friday we will keep you posted.
John has also managed to organise a Male Voice Choir to lift your spirits after a hard day’s conferencing on the Saturday before the Gala Dinner. Those of you who will be bringing your dancing shoes will be glad to hear we are working on music to dance to after the Gala Dinner.
The Marriott have agreed to supply a raffle prize of a 2 night stay for two with Breakfast.
The Kings Speech will be playing on a few occasions in the hotel over the weekend so if you have a spare moment and want to see it either for the first time or have seen it before and know how good it is and want to see it again it is there for you!!
